Stage 1- Classification:
- Turkey wanted to "Turkify" their empire.
- No more Armenians.
Stage 2- Symbolization:
- There was no symbolization
Stage 3- Discrimination:
- Armenian women and girls were raped
- Armenians were beaten
Stage 4- Dehumanization:
- Armenians were raped and beaten
- Used as slaves
Stage 5- Organization:
- Turks rounded up, arrested, and later, starting on April 24, 1915, executed Armenians
- This led to the start of the genocide
- There were massacres targeting the Armenians in 1894, 1895, 1896, 1909, and some in between 1920 and 1923
Stage 6- Polarization:
- Armenian leaders, dentists, doctors, and other important were killed first.
Stage 7- Preparation:
- Armenians were arrested and taken to concentration camps in Syria, specifically on the opposite side of the desert the Armenians were on.
- Armenian Armys were transported to labor battalions, where they were killed or used for work
- Sent on trains to the desert to die.
Stage 8- Persecution:
- There were many massacres over 200 years
- Executions into mass graves, and death marches of the Armenians.
Stage 9- Extermination:
- Many died being forced to walk to concentration sometimes on the other side of the Syrian desert they were on
- Turks practically gave Armenians a death wish
- Turks wanted to completely eliminate Armenians.
Stage 10- Denial:
- Turks said that no one was killed
- Turks said that there was not an attempt to destroy Armenians
- When Turkey is accused for committing genocide, even today Turks says that they are" insulting Turkishness".
